Southern Vietnamese Elegance
Pho Ngoc Yen introduces the refined cuisine of Vietnam's Mekong Delta to downtown Toronto, anchoring our story of distinction with a flagship location at Peter and Adelaide.
Guided by Executive Chef Tri Tran, whose craft spans family traditions and twenty-five years in Ontario's finest kitchens, we fuse time-honoured recipes handed down to us by our family with modern culinary technique and unparalleled service. We have been honoured with national awards and a devoted following that consistently ranks us among Canada's top dining experiences.

Heritage, Handed Down
The Mekong Delta's cuisine is renowned for its layered sweet-savory broths, aromatic herbs, and market-fresh produce. These are elements Chef Tri first learned beside his grandmother's clay stove in Can Tho. This culinary foundation, rooted in southern Vietnamese tradition, forms the heart of our kitchen's philosophy.
Chef Tri's journey from those humble beginnings to formal training in Canada, followed by apprenticeships under European masters, represents a unique fusion of traditions. The restaurant itself pays homage to his elder sister Yen, reflecting Vietnam's deep tradition of revering family lineage in culinary heritage.
Chef Tri's Philosophy
Executive Chef Tri Tran cooks with a rule that leaves no room for compromise: honour the dish and the diner, whatever the cost. Chef Tran marries impeccable technique to the flavours of his childhood. Every herb, whether it's basil, galangal, lemongrass or exotic regional herbs, is chosen at its peak; every broth is coaxed to depth overnight. This unflinching commitment to premium ingredients and patient craft lets tradition speak without being lost. For Chef Tran, cooking is an act of stewardship. He serves each bowl as a bridge between homelands, carrying the heart and soul of Delta kitchens into Toronto's best culinary destinations.
